Long ago, lost in the depths of time, in a place not known in this universe. There were two battling armies. The white army and the black army. So named by the colour of their armour. The king of the white army was known as King Idai. His beautiful queen was known as Queen Milanu. Their evil opponents were, of course, the black army, led by King Jon and Queen Daisy. The white army had an advisor as one of their bishops, known only as Max. His rival happened to be in the black army, and went by Phil.

It would be time for the final battle; the white army against the black army, in a battle that would shake the cosmos. They led their armies onto the battlefield, and faced each other. Each had a row of soldiers protecting their better troops. It would be their final battle, with the last of their troops. A battle of good against evil. The infantry charged each other, quickly slaying each other, leaving nothing left. Then the battle truly began.

“My King…my Queen…you must stay behind here, you are the most important members here.” Max quickly told them, leaving no room for argument. He then charged his opponent, Phil.

“…poor little Max…thinking you can take me on” the dark bishop laughed cruelly. “My Lieges, you must stay behind…we can die if we need to…plus I want this specific bishop all to myself”

Daisy cackled “Go ahead Phil…show that upstart what real bishops can do” She ordered.

The battle was practically a standoff. One of the white knights fell to it’s black counterpart, only to be shot by arrows from a white keep. The keep itself fell to the other black bishop’s magic. The battle was mostly short lived. But Max and Phil fought hard magic against magic. Max didn’t realise he was in danger to a black keep.

“Max!” Milanu cried and raised a hand. Lightning struck the keep, destroying it.

“Darn…so close too” Phil muttered. “Hey, you!” he shouted at the other black bishop “Help me!” the two bishops now fought Max, who was hard-put to keep fighting both of them.

Milanu shot lightning at a black knight, killing him instantly. The other white rook was destroyed in a dark explosion, caused by Daisy. The other white bishop joined with Max, and they defeated the other black bishop. Phil killed the other white bishop, leaving it to just being between them again.

“DIE!” Max shouted, and waved a hand at a surprised Phil, who was set on fire and burnt to death. Max retreated back to Idai and Milanu.

The battle continued until it was only Max, Idai, Milanu, Jon and Daisy left. This would be a tough fight.

“Get rid of the queen…then he’s helpless” Max muttered

“Get rid of the Queen…and the Bishop…then he’s helpless” Daisy whispered.

All the royals charged, each aiming for the opposing Queen. But it turned into a clone battle. Daisy fought with Milanu, each calling upon their respective magic. Idai fenced with Jon. Neither gaining the upper hand. Max was forgotten.

Excellent He thought, smirking as he snuck around the black queen. She was completely focussed on her fight with Milanu that she didn’t realise she was in danger. “DIE!” He shouted, waving a hand. Sharp ice shot into the queen, killing her instantly. Max and Milanu nodded, and ran to the battling kings.

Idai was knocked back and disarmed. Jon held a sword to his throat. “Hmm…poor, poor Idai, did you really think you could win?”

Idai smiled as he saw his wife and advisor coming. “Yes, yes I do” He said.

“Huh? What?!” Jon whirled around, to be met with ice blades and lightning. “NOOOOO! HOW COULD I LOSE?!” He screamed as he was electrocuted. When it stopped, he was already dead.

Milanu and Max ran to Idai, helping him back up. All three were panting. “Well…it looks like we won…” Milanu said quietly.

“You seemed to be doubtful” Max replied, smirking.

The five players sat back from the chessboard, three of them smiling.

“So, Jon. That’s checkmate…you thought you could beat me in Chess?” Max asked, raising an eyebrow. Jon and Daisy both looked away.

“Well darn…we lost…” Daisy muttered “Ok, fine. Max, you’re better at chess than us. You win. Now, we have to go. Bye!” She grabbed Jon and left the room, dragging him behind her.

Max smiled at his friends, both were several years older. “I told you I could beat them. I told you!”

“We know Max…we know…” Milanu replied.

“Heh…that was a close game though” Idai added

“I wanted to make it dramatic, so I held back” Max smirked, winked and left the room. Idai and Milanu exchanged resigned glances, shared a brief kiss, then both left the room, turning the light off as they left.
Simple. It'swhat happens in a battle of good an evil. Read on m'lad, or m'lass. It was something that I did with chess as a stimulus.
